I decided to dedicate more time to my social presence as an artist and researcher and to do a social media calendar. Well, Saturday is watercolor day! I hope you like it and happy new month!
Last night I found some old drawings (2009 or 2010?) for an animation that I never managed to realize and I quickly put them together. –You know when you are young and you are jumping about with girls and stuff... –'I 've been with the same partner for 16 years. Every morning I wake her up and tell her I love her. Every night before we go to bed, we tell each other we love each other. There will be a lot of shouting in between, but every morning and before we go to bed we always tell each other we love each other... ' –Being married is definitely important to me, as a person, but I understand that, eeeerm, it's not as important nowadays to other people. – I 've been married twice. The first marriage ended acrimoniously. My second marriage, I was heartbroken... This is the first time I am trying lino cuts since I was a child. I am really enjoying this new challenge, and I am learning a lot at the same time.
Working on a new animated documentary portraying how people in Glasgow think about romantic love. Project funded by A-N. Here is a wee snippet of one scene. I am really not happy with the way the animation was looking. It was taking too long to finish and the results were not particularly intriguing. Therefore, I decided on the following action plan:
1. Significantly reduce the size of the soundtrack to perhaps 5 min (DONE). 2. Do a rough storyboard (DONE) 3. Don't be afraid of contemporary animation and don't be too reliant of the approval of people who have no interest in contemporary art. (DONE lol) 4. Start animating the sequences in a fast and rough manner, prioritising expression and humour. 5. Take some video footage of Glasgow scenes, ambiances. 6. Produce drawings (your style) from the sequence plans. A small part of my upcoming art piece on how Glaswegians think about romantic love. The animation is still at a very early stage and is expected to be looking very differently when ready. work in progress, based on a Plurasight tutorial on creating an object in Maya and Mudbox for 3D printing
